This CPD-accredited course is the second step in the CareTutor medication training pathway. It builds on Medication Awareness and gives care and support workers the practical knowledge they need before workplace observation, competency assessment and local sign-off.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
• Explain how safe medication administration fits into their role.
• Carry out key checks using the care plan, MAR or eMAR and medication label.
• Recognise common medicine forms, routes and safe administration techniques.
• Understand what must be recorded, reported and escalated.
• Respond safely to refusals, errors, near misses, side effects and stock issues.
• Recognise higher-risk situations and when to seek advice.
• Understand that workplace competency sign-off is required before independent practice.

This course supports safer medication administration practice in adult social care settings in England, including care homes, domiciliary care, supported living and community-based services.
