Biography

Carole Johnson is a highly skilled and experienced course consultant at CareTutor, who has worked on the courses "Moving and Assisting: Assessments," "Moving and Assisting: Theory," and "Moving and Assisting: Practical." Carole's expertise lies in the field of manual handling, particularly in people handling for both children and adults.

As a Chartered Physiotherapist and freelance Manual Handling Adviser, Carole brings over 35 years of experience to her role. She takes great satisfaction in finding effective solutions that meet the needs of both the individuals seeking assistance and those providing help. Carole's extensive knowledge and proficiency in manual handling have led her to become an Honorary and Advanced member of the National Back Exchange, a prestigious organization dedicated to promoting safe and efficient manual handling practices.

Carole's expertise extends beyond her practical experience. She has contributed to the field through her publications, including the highly regarded "Handling of People" (BackCare, 2005, 2011) and the "Guidance on Manual Handling in Physiotherapy" (CSP, 2008, 2014). Additionally, she has authored the "Manual Handling of Children" (NBE, 2011), further demonstrating her comprehensive understanding of manual handling practices in various contexts.

Carole's contributions to the field of manual handling have been recognized nationally and internationally. She has presented at the Moving and Handling People conference numerous times since the year 2000, covering a wide range of topics, from complex manual handling techniques to her role as a Specialist Adviser on inspections for the Care Quality Commission. Carole's involvement with the National Back Exchange has been extensive, serving as Chairman from 1999 to 2004, Public Relations Officer from 2008 to 2014, and currently holding the role of editor for their journal, Column. In March 2016, she also assumed the position of publications officer, further highlighting her commitment to sharing knowledge and advancing best practices in manual handling.
