Nutrition and Hydration Week 2024

Nutrition and Hydration Week 2024

The Nutrition and Hydration Week (11th – 17th March 2024) is an annual event with a shared, global objective to “Reinforce, Focus and Energise” engagement to promote nutrition and hydration as a fundamental element to maintaining health and wellbeing within health and social care. This week is run by three experts one of who is Derek Johnson, our consultant for the Fluids and Nutrition course. The purpose of the week is to bring people together to create energy, focus and fun in order to highlight and educate people on the value of food and hydration. Nutrition and Hydration Week 2024 | CareTutor | Social Care eLearning

Approximately 3 million individuals in the United Kingdom, and countless more around the world, face the risk of malnutrition. To combat this, we need to work to raise awareness regarding these dangers, and advocate for methods that can help address malnutrition and dehydration.

Celebrating Nutrition and Hydration Week:

During Nutrition and Hydration Week 2024, there are numerous opportunities to engage in activities that promote informed decision-making and foster healthy habits:

  1. Educational Initiatives: Participate in seminars, webinars, or workshops led by nutritionists, dietitians, and health professionals to deepen your understanding of nutrition and hydration principles, debunk myths, and gain practical tips for optimizing your dietary choices.
  1. Nutritious Meal Planning: Take inspiration from nutritious meal plans, recipes, and cooking demonstrations that emphasize the importance of incorporating a variety of nutrient-rich foods into your diet. Experiment with new Flavors, textures, and culinary techniques to make healthy eating enjoyable and sustainable.

Explore creative ways to infuse water with fresh fruits, herbs, or vegetables for added flavour and appeal.
  1. Mindful Eating Practices: Experiment with mindful eating exercises such as mindful chewing, mindful tasting, and mindful gratitude to enhance your eating experience.
