CareTutor awarded Quality Assured Care Learning Service (QACLS) approval

CareTutor awarded Quality Assured Care Learning Service (QACLS) approval | CareTutor | Social Care eLearning

We’re proud to announce that CareTutor has been awarded the Quality Assured Care Learning Service (QACLS) approval by Skills for Care, recognising the quality, relevance, and impact of our Skills for Care Leadership Programmes and CPD courses for the adult social care sector.

This approval reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, practical learning that supports care providers, registered managers, and frontline staff in real-world settings.

What is QACLS approval?

The Quality Assured Care Learning Service (QACLS) is a national quality assurance initiative developed by Skills for Care and funded by the Department of Health and Social Care.

It is designed to:

  • Review and assure the quality of training courses and qualifications
  • Ensure learning is high quality, accessible, and relevant
  • Support the development of a skilled and professional care workforce

Training providers must meet rigorous quality standards, providing evidence that the learning they deliver meets these expectations and delivers meaningful outcomes for both learners and care providers.

What QACLS approval means

Achieving QACLS approval is a recognised mark of quality across the sector. It confirms that CareTutor’s Skills for Care Leadership Programmes and CPD courses meet Skills for Care’s quality assurance standards.

Quality-assured training is:

  • Benchmarked against national standards for adult social care
  • Included in a publicly available list of approved learning
  • Recognised as part of a wider move towards more consistent, high-quality training across the sector

A note on funding and LDSS

QACLS is part of a broader direction of travel in adult social care training.

Current guidance confirms that:

  • QACLS approval does not currently determine eligibility for the Learning and Development Support Scheme (LDSS)
  • Providers can continue to access funding through existing routes

However, over time, there is a clear expectation that quality-assured learning will play an increasingly important role in how training is recognised and prioritised across the sector.

Why this matters for care providers

For care organisations, QACLS approval provides reassurance that training has been independently reviewed and meets recognised standards.

It indicates that learning is:

  • Relevant to real care environments
  • Designed to improve outcomes for people using services
  • Aligned with workforce development priorities
  • Able to support compliance, quality, and inspection readiness

In a sector facing workforce challenges and high turnover, access to trusted, high-quality training is essential to improving retention and care standards.

CareTutor’s approach to quality training

At CareTutor, our focus has always been on delivering training that works in practice — not just in theory.

Our courses are designed to:

  • Reflect real inspection and care scenarios
  • Support leadership, governance, and quality improvement
  • Be clear, practical, and easy to apply
  • Help teams translate learning into everyday care

This approach aligns closely with QACLS expectations, which emphasise practical, evidence-based learning that improves outcomes.

Supporting leadership and workforce development

CareTutor’s programmes support providers across all levels of adult social care, including registered managers, team leaders, and frontline staff.

Our Skills for Care leadership programmes and CPD courses focus on:

  • Building strong leadership capability
  • Supporting workforce development and retention
  • Improving quality and consistency of care
  • Promoting continuous improvement

As the sector continues to evolve, leadership development remains a critical priority.

Looking ahead: the future of care training

QACLS forms part of a wider transformation in adult social care learning.

The direction of travel suggests:

  • Greater emphasis on quality-assured training
  • Increased visibility of approved courses
  • A more consistent approach to workforce development

For care providers, this makes choosing quality-assured courses an increasingly important consideration when planning training and development.

A continued commitment to quality

Achieving QACLS approval is an important milestone for CareTutor, but it is part of a wider commitment to continuous improvement.

We will continue to:

  • Align our training with sector standards and expectations
  • Support providers with practical, high-impact learning
  • Develop courses that reflect the realities of adult social care
