National Inclusion Week 2026: Build Trust. Navigate Change.

National Inclusion Week 2026: Build Trust. Navigate Change. | CareTutor | Social Care eLearning

National Inclusion Week® takes place from 14–20 September 2026, giving organisations across the UK an opportunity to celebrate inclusion, start important conversations and take practical action to create workplaces where everyone feels valued, respected and able to thrive.

This year’s theme, “Build Trust. Navigate Change.”, recognises the challenges organisations are facing while highlighting the importance of continuing to make progress on inclusion, even during times of uncertainty.

For the care sector, this is particularly relevant. Care teams work with people from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, beliefs and experiences. Creating an inclusive workplace helps staff feel supported while also enabling them to provide more person-centred care.

What is National Inclusion Week?

Founded by Inclusive Employers in 2013, National Inclusion Week is an annual opportunity for organisations and individuals to celebrate inclusion and take action to build more inclusive workplaces.

The week encourages organisations to reflect on the barriers that can affect people’s experiences at work, have honest conversations, and consider what practical steps they can take to create meaningful change.

Importantly, inclusion is about everyone. National Inclusion Week encourages conversations around areas including gender, race, religion, LGBTQ+, disability, caring responsibilities and social mobility.

How can care organisations get involved?

There are plenty of ways to take part in National Inclusion Week 2026.

  1. Register for National Inclusion Week

Organisations and individuals can register for the campaign and receive a complimentary campaign toolkit, providing resources to help plan activities and conversations throughout the week.

Register for National Inclusion Week 2026

  1. Start conversations with your team

Use the week as an opportunity to talk openly about inclusion within your organisation. You could discuss:

  • What does inclusion mean to our team?
  • Do everyone’s voices feel heard?
  • Are there barriers preventing people from feeling included?
  • How can we make our workplace more supportive?
  • What small changes could make a meaningful difference?

Even simple conversations can help teams understand different experiences and identify areas for improvement.

  1. Use the free campaign resources

Once registered, organisations can access campaign resources to help them engage their teams, inspire conversations, and take action. You can also explore additional options such as webinars, expert speakers, and supporter products if you want to take your activities further.

National Inclusion Week is also introducing its 2026 Awards, recognising organisations, leaders, colleague networks and initiatives that are creating meaningful inclusion and demonstrating positive change.

  1. Make inclusion part of everyday care

National Inclusion Week shouldn’t be about inclusion for one week and then returning to business as usual.

For care providers, inclusive practice should be embedded into everyday work — from recruitment and staff training to communication, personal care, activities and respecting people’s cultural and religious needs.

Training can play an important role in helping staff understand what equality, diversity and inclusion mean in practice.

Build knowledge with CareTutor

CareTutor’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion course helps care professionals understand how to promote equality, respect diversity and support inclusion in their everyday practice.

The course covers areas including prejudice and discrimination, cultural and religious diversity, disability equality, sexual orientation and gender reassignment, as well as inclusive approaches to personal care, activities and dietary support.

Inclusion starts with action

National Inclusion Week 2026 is a chance to listen, reflect, and take action. Whether you register for the campaign, use the free resources, organise conversations with your team or strengthen your staff training, every step can contribute to a more inclusive workplace.

For care organisations, building an inclusive culture isn’t just about supporting staff, it’s about creating an environment where everyone receiving care feels respected, understood and valued too.
