The Learning & Development Support Scheme (LDSS) reimburses employers for specific, pre-approved items only. If it isn’t on the official list, it isn’t fundable.Â
What is fundableÂ
- LDSS-listed qualifications and courses published by DHSC/Skills for Care (e.g., Leadership programmes, Level 2–5 regulated qualifications). Check the live list before booking.Â
- Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate (successor to the Care Certificate) – reimbursable up to the published cap per learner.Â
- Skills for Care leadership learning (e.g., Lead to Succeed, Well-Led, Leading Change Improving Care)—again, only where listed and within the cap.Â
- Selected topic qualifications (e.g., dementia, autism, learning disabilities, medicines, diabetes, falls, stroke, oral health), each with a maximum reimbursement and eligible awarding bodies.Â
Â
What isn’t fundableÂ
- Training not named on the LDSS eligibility list.Â
- Apprenticeship learning (use the levy instead).Â
- Regulated clinicians’ CPD (e.g., nurses/AHPs).Â
- Backfill, travel or other costs beyond course/qualification fees.Â
Â
Claim rules (need-to-knows)Â
- Employer must provide ASC services in England, employ non-regulated staff, and keep ASC-WDS up to date.Â
- Claims window: 3 months from course completion; for qualifications, claim 60% at start (after payment) and 40% on completion.Â
- Proof of payment and evidence (course/qualification, provider, awarding organisation, certificate) are mandatory.Â
- The funding pot is capped—late claims risk missing out.Â
