World Diabetes Day 2024 : Diabetes and well-being
Every year on November 14, the global community comes together to mark World Diabetes Day (WDD), an awareness campaign reaching over 1 billion people worldwide. Created in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organisation (WHO), WDD was established to unite healthcare professionals, policymakers, advocates, and the public in addressing diabetes care. Since 2006, it has been recognised as an official United Nations Day, dedicated to creating better understanding, support, and action.
This yearโs theme, โDiabetes and Well-beingโ emphasises the importance of supporting the holistic health of people with diabetes, ensuring that with access to proper care, everyone can thrive. As the campaign spreads this message globally, individuals are encouraged to share their #DiabetesLife stories on social media and raise awareness about diabetes’ impact on daily life.
