Celebrate Care Day 2025: Empower Young People with Care Experience
This year, Care Day will take place on Friday, 21st February – a day dedicated to celebrating young people with care experience. As the world’s biggest event of its kind, it’s a time to raise our voices and show support for those in care. Since its inception in 2015, Become has proudly led the campaign in England.
The theme for Care Day 2025, chosen by the Become the Movement community, is “Voices that Care.” Their mission is simple: to amplify the voices of children and young people with care experience and to demonstrate that countless people care about them.
How can you get involved?
There are many ways you can show your support and make a difference this Care Day:
- Show How You Care: Take a selfie with the words “I Care” written on the palm of your hand. Share it on social media with a message explaining how you care. This could be anything from making a donation, running a fundraising marathon, working within the care system, or supporting campaigns that advocate for change. If you’re a care-experienced young person, share your story about why you’re passionate about transforming the care system. Be sure to include the hashtag #CareDay in your post!
- Get Educated About the Care System: Visit ‘About the Care System’ page to burst any myths and gain a deeper understanding of what it’s really like to be in care. There, you’ll find insightful stories from care-experienced young people, helping you connect with their experiences and the need for change.
Care Day is a collaborative effort between five major charities known as the 5 Nations 1 Voice (5N1V) alliance. These include Become (England), Who Cares? Scotland, Voices from Care (Wales), Voice of Young People in Care (Northern Ireland), and EPIC. Together, we form a unified voice advocating for the better treatment of children and young people with care experience.
